This is my first blog post in a couple of weeks. I felt I needed a little break from it all and I guess I was suffering from a slight case of writer’s block in a way. I’m a total perfectionist when it comes to my work so writing half-hearted posts would never be an option. Anyway, I’m back with a bang, feeling invigorated and bursting with ideas for new material so watch this space!
Last week I purchased some skincare bits from Boots as my skin was feeling dull and lifeless. I decided to go for some Soap & Glory products as I’d never tried them before and was curious to see what all the hype was about. I must admit, I’ve never reached for Soap & Glory products in the past as their bright, bubbly packaging reminds me a lot of Benefit’s, a brand I’m in no way a fan of (overpriced with extravagant packaging but lacking in quality/results doesn’t do it for me). However, I was pleasantly surprised when I learned that the two brands have nothing in common but similar retro-inspired product names.
The first product I chose was The Fab Pore 2 – In -1 Facial Mask & Peel, which retails at €12.49 for a 30ml tub. “Guaranteed to give exhausted skin its fresh back. Genius in a jar!”, its aim is to fight clogged T-zones and ‘problem skin’, smoothes, cleanses and purifies and is strategically formulated for oily/combination skin but safe for all skin types.I applied it before I got in the shower and washed it off after I had done my hair (leaving for approx. 10 mins) and I saw a difference in my skin within 2 days. The grainy texture ensures all impurities and oil is removed while still being gentle and nurishing on the skin. In terms of ratings, I’d have to give it a 9/10, super impressed.
Next up is the Beauty Sleep Accelerator Night & Flight Moisture Miracle, retailing at €17.50 for a 45ml tub. “Guaranteed to be an overnight sensation, Soap & Glory’s Beauty Sleep Accelerator has elasticity and barrier repair-boosting HIGHDRATION-24H, and detoxifying OXYGINSENG TECHNOLOGY”, so it basically floods your skin with moisture; stopping dry, dehydrated skin in its tracks, so you wake up to dewy, luminous skin. The peachy scent is to die for and the thick consistency makes it ideal for drier skin types. I applied to a cleansed face right before bed and woke up with, you guessed it, super soft, hydrated and glowing skin. By far the best night cream I’ve ever used, but a little thick (for personally) for during the day/under makeup. I give it an 8.5/10, another fabulous product.
Lastly, I purchased the Peaches & Clean 3-in-1 Wash Off Deep Purifying Cleanser, €7.50 for 200ml. ” It’s gentle, effective, melts away make-up (even waterproof mascara), and re-energises your complexion in two minutes”, a 3-in-1 cleansing, smoothing and revitalising milk suitable for all skin types. I found this cleanser great for removing base makeup (foundation, contour, etc.), but found I still needed my Micellar Cleansing Water to remove stubborn eye makeup. For that reason I’d rate it a 7.5/10 but it’s still a great product, reasonably priced too.
Overall, I’m really glad I tried out some of Soap & Glory’s many products, I’ll definitely be purchasing some more in the near future. If you’re looking to purchase some for yourself, Boots have a ‘buy one get one half price’ offer on certain S&G products at the moment, and furthermore, you get a FREE Peaches & Clean when you spend €35 or more on skincare (across all ranges). So hard to resist!
