Review – SOSU ‘Bright Lights’ by Suzanne Jackson

Hi everyone,

Hope you’re all enjoying your Sunday. I must apologize for my lack of content over the last week or two, I’ve just been so busy and felt anything I posted would only have been half hearted, which isn’t me. Today’s post is one I’ve been looking forward to writing since I first purchased the product. Over the last number of months, Suzanne Jackson’s SOSU range has been a hot topic in the beauty world. “A 25 Gel Colour Polish Collection (without the lamp)”, it’s gone down a treat with so many Irish ladies. Available in pharmacies nationwide, selected salons and even our beloved Penneys, there’s no excuse not to try out the craze for yourself. The polishes themselves retail at €7.99, on the steeper side of the pharmacy brands but still very affordable, in my opinion.

essiePrior to applying the SOSU polish, I used the Essie ‘First Base’ Base Coat. Having read a few reviews of the SOSU range before purchasing myself, I gathered that a good base coat makes a huge difference and insures greater staying power. The Essie base coat retails at around €13 but I nabbed it for just €6.99 in TK Maxx. The base coat works the same way a primer does on your face, smoothing out the surface before you apply the product, so there’s no ridges. It also gives the colour something to grip onto, so it has an overall longer lasting finish.

sosuuThe colour I chose is ‘Bright Lights’ from the debut line of Suzanne’s range. It’s a gorgeous shade, a deep, metallic gold, perfect for both day and evening wear. The overall packaging of the SOSU polishes is impressive and the application brush is quite effective (although I understand the latest polishes in the range have a ‘new and improved’ brush). I applied two layers of colour on top of my base coat, allowing 2-3 minutes drying time between coats. I then applied the base coat on top (as I had run out of top coat, oops!).

sosuuuAs it was my first time using a polish from the SOSU range, I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I must say I was quite impressed. It claims to provide a “7 day manicure” and that’s what I got. After 7 days of everyday wear, as well as washing dishes and lugging baggage around, my nails remained more or less perfect for an entire week, result!

sosuiOverall, I would definitely recommend Suzanne’s SOSU range as it combines quality with affordability. I’m looking forward to trying some of the other SOSU shades, especially some of her new A/W colours. Thanks for reading today’s post, I hope you enjoyed it and that it gave you a better idea of the SOSU range. As always, feel free to leave any questions or thoughts below.

Until next time,

Jacqueline x
