Happy Friday! Hope you’re all ready for the weekend. Today’s post is the highly anticipated review of the new UD Naked Smoky palette. Its release has been the topic of every beauty enthusiast’s conversation over the last few weeks, a new palette following on from its siblings, the Naked 1,2 and 3. The Naked range from Urban Decay is lusted after by so many beauty lovers, from makeup newbies to the professionals, so it’s no wonder we’ve all been dying for it to hit the shelves.
I ordered my palette from Debenhams Ireland online for €46, which is the same price as the previous Naked palettes. I received it a few days later and was wowed by the gorgeous packaging. The marble effect on both the box and the case is so luxurious! I was also very pleased with the quality of the casing, which is made of stronger and heavier plastic than the previous palettes.
On opening the case you find a full length mirror and double sided brush, just like its sibling palettes, however, the brush with the Smoky palette is specifically designed for creating the perfect smoky eye, with one side for blending on the eyelid and the other for lining the lash lines and shading the crease. It’s clear UD has put a lot of thought into creating this product.
The palette consists of 12 gorgeous shades which include golds, blues, greys and purples. There’s a great selection of colours, allowing you to take your smoky eye look from day to night by simply intensifying the mattes with the darker shades. I first tried out the palette on Wednesday night and I was really impressed with the colour pay off and pigmentation. I love the purple tones in particular, they really make blue eyes pop.
Overall, I was really impressed with the UD Naked Smoky palette, and the packaging and colour intensity exceeded my expectations. Some may think that €46 is a bit steep for an eyeshadow palette but I feel it’s well worth it as the quality is amazing. Since I purchased my Naked 2 palette last year I’ve been using it everyday, creating endless unique looks. Here’s a quick look I created earlier today using the Smokey palette;
I used the shades Thirteen, Password and Smolder on the lid, Dagger on the lower lash line and in the crease and High on the brow bone. I finished the look using L’Oréal Super Liner Superstar Liquid Eyeliner, Rimmel Wake Me Up Wonder-full Mascara and Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion in Eden. (No false lashes were used).
Thanks for reading my post, I hope you enjoyed learning about the gorgeous Naked Smoky palette as much as I enjoyed using it. If you’ve invested in your own, let me know what you think in the comments below.
Until next time,
